  • Nutrition is an integral part of your recovery. Foods that are high in calcium and protein will boost your muscle repair. A good diet will strengthen you and make it easier for your back to deal 
  • Take out stressors from your daily activities. If you are worried and are failing to relax from the anxiety of your injury, you may need to talk to your doctor. Anxiety and stress have adverse effects on pain outlook. 
  • Improved sleep is vital to your healing process. Eight hours a night is ideal, and if you are having problems with this, you may need over-the-counter sleep aid or other natural supplements to help you. Try to sleep during the day, too, especially if you have had surgery 
  • It is essential to sleep in a position that does not hurt your spine. You may need to prop pillows around you until you feel comfortable. This will help your muscles relax. 
  • Exercise strengthens your muscles, but it may not be time to begin intense workout. Talk to your doctor about stretches and low-intensity workouts, as they help your muscles loosen up and get strong. The stronger your muscles are, the less likely they are to strain.
  • Asides from your medication, moist heat may help with occurrences of pain. This is because it helps to improve blood circulation and reduce stiffness 
  • Ensure you drink enough water to stay hydrated, as dehydration often affects the strength of the muscles of your spine. 

If you have injured your back, you should pay careful attention to these actions, so your condition does not regress. Once you recover and can stand upright, it is crucial not to jump back into activities that may hurt your back. Avoid bending and twisting your back by keeping an upright posture.
